Changing the Cannon Fodder's Fate

Cannon Fodder’s Guide to Getting Rich begins with the familiar trope of transmigration, yet its true charm lies in how it breathes life into characters who were meant to exist only on the sidelines. Wen Shuangbai chooses not to follow the path laid out for her, instead finding a way to build her own value within the vast world of cultivation.

Rather than focusing solely on life-and-death struggles, the story explores the journey of a group of impoverished characters who step-by-step improve their lives. Their practical mindset and unique perspective on opportunities become the foundation for many humorous and touching situations.

A Remarkable Fellowship

The greatest highlight of this work is its central cast. Each person possesses their own unique talent; they are not omnipotent figures but individuals with clear vulnerabilities, making their shared journey feel deeply relatable and human.

• Wen Shuangbai: An artifact cultivation practitioner with a grounded way of thinking, placing high value on resources.
• Xie Ziyin: A character tied to the path of medical cultivation, known for her straightforward and rational personality.
• The teammates: Those who were once overlooked but gradually find their own place in the world.

The interaction between the members is what keeps the story's heart beating. Friendship and coordination are built to shine much brighter than mere individual prowess.

The World of Cultivation

The setting is built upon the familiar framework of xianxia, featuring sects, competitions, and the typical trials of the immortal path. However, the author does not dwell too deeply on explaining every layer of power, prioritizing instead the situations that directly affect the characters' inner growth.

This approach makes the story more accessible to newcomers. However, those who look forward to an incredibly detailed system of cultivation realms might find this aspect a bit light on technical depth.

The Charm of Humour

A distinct feature of the story is how the characters perceive resources and money within a cultivation environment. Very mundane, everyday thoughts are juxtaposed with fantastical circumstances, creating many unexpected moments.

The natural humor stems from character personalities rather than forced comedic beats. The story often allows characters to reveal their own clumsiness, calculations, or unique eccentricities in their behavior.

Strengths

• Distinct characters: Each member of the group has their own role and philosophy.
• Team dynamics: The process of cooperation feels like a natural evolution of their bond.
• A fresh take on cannon fodder: Exploring how those who are underestimated take charge of their own destinies.
• Light atmosphere: Perfectly suited for when you need an entertaining story after more heavy, intense works.

Weaknesses

• The progression of power is not the main focus, so it may not suit those who enjoy complex combat systems.
• Some conflicts lack a sense of high stakes as the group tends to resolve issues quite smoothly.
• The romantic subplot develops slowly, which might not satisfy readers looking for a romance-centered narrative.

Final Reflections

In essence: This is a gentle xianxia work that places intelligence, friendship, and the ability to adapt at its heart, perfect for readers who want a journey of changing fate rather than a cycle of constant battles.
