A Paradoxical Character Concept
The characterization of Gu Xizhou is remarkably written as he balances entirely opposing identities. Originally a law-abiding citizen, he accidentally transmigrated to an alternate realm, clawing his way through survival to become a notorious demonic cultivator.
Upon returning to his original world, a gruesome sacrificial formation set up by his own disciple turns him into a dangerous evil god spirit. All the while, he continues operating normally as an investigative police officer in the modern world.
The clash between his steadfast integrity as a law enforcer and the ruthless, sometimes shameless nature of a demonic cultivator makes him insanely magnetic. He never hesitates to use brute force to subdue all kinds of ghosts and monsters, showcasing a fighting style that is as wild as it is razor-sharp.
The Dual Pulse of Infinite and Reality
The plot moves seamlessly across two parallel dimensions filled with tension. On one end, the protagonist dives into chilling infinite flow quest worlds, battling through survival trials just to accumulate lifespan.
On the other end, he fulfills his duties as a professional police officer, directly confronting tricky detective cases steeped in the supernatural. This constant rotation keeps the story's pace fast and refreshing.
Joining him is Si Yu, who serves as the core intelligence in unraveling the mysteries. Armed with genius-level IQ, Si Yu handles the logical deduction and unravels complex clues, serving as the perfect brain to pair with his partner's sheer muscle.
A Unique Romance Dynamic
The danmei aspect stands out through a distinct and engaging character dynamic. Si Yu is portrayed as brilliant, acting as a sickly obsessive gong blessed with absurdly high luck.
Meanwhile, Gu Xizhou steps into the role of a remarkably resilient demonic cultivator shou who remains grounded despite housing a malevolent evil spirit. Their chemistry provides fantastic psychological balance and much-needed breathing room amidst the horror.
Their relationship is built on absolute trust and mutual support. One's razor-sharp mind complements the other's heavy fists, allowing them to conquer one terrifying realm after another.

This novel is a fantastic pick if you love infinite flow mixed with detective investigation. Watching the protagonist smash through ghosts and monsters with pure violence is ridiculously satisfying.
However, if you are looking for pure xianxia cultivation or prefer a smooth, slow-paced narrative, the back-and-forth structural shift might leave you feeling a bit underwhelmed.
