Starting From Scars

This review explores a story that offers a unique perspective by blending transmigration elements with a tranquil slice of life setting. The protagonist, Su Shuilian, was originally a di daughter from a prestigious embroidery clan in her past life, where she was tragically hounded to death by her jealous relatives.

Her soul finds a new home in an anonymous body within a strange dynasty, only to wake up stranded in the wild alongside a pack of wolf pups. It is here that she saves Lin Si Yao, a skilled assassin who narrowly escaped death after being double-crossed by his own organization.

This chance encounter deep in the forest lays the groundwork for a journey of mutual healing. Together, they evade danger and settle down in a secluded town to start their lives anew.

Two Pieces of a Puzzle

Su Shuilian is written as a gentle and kind-hearted character; while she starts out a bit naive, she is remarkably resourceful. Through her ingenuity and survival skills, she doesn't just provide for herself but becomes the emotional anchor for her companion.

On the flip side, Lin Si Yao embodies the archetype of a notorious assassin with an incredibly cold and stoic exterior. However, as time passes, he begins to reveal a warm and attentive side, becoming fiercely protective—and a bit possessive—of the woman he loves.

The contrast between a girl who lives for embroidery and a swordsman whose hands were once stained with blood creates a natural chemistry. Their relationship develops quietly, growing stronger through every small hurdle they encounter.

The Slow Rural Rhythm

Spanning 160 main chapters and 12 extras, the story maintains a leisurely pace. After emerging from the wilderness, the two pose as a married couple to buy a home and build a life as genuine farmer folk.

Much of the narrative is dedicated to daily life, ranging from household chores to descriptions of picturesque landscapes. Drama only crops up occasionally, such as when secrets about the characters' pasts are slowly revealed or when Lin Si Yao takes on a disciple.

The atmosphere is deeply rustic and relaxing, making it an excellent stress-reliever for readers. Mundane details are meticulously painted, steering clear of convoluted conflicts.
