A Disorienting Rebirth

The story kicks off with a compelling fantasy premise set after a shipwreck in 487 AD that completely alters a human's fate. Following a terrifying storm at sea, our protagonist Lansi suddenly wakes up in the body of a white mermaid. Forget the sugar-coated fairy tales—this is a grueling journey of survival challenges in a completely foreign environment.

Adapting to the Deep

Readers should note that the author takes a very realistic approach to this biological transformation. Lansi struggles immensely to master the new body, from clumsy movements underwater to the sheer terror of losing the ability to speak. Meanwhile, the post-apocalyptic setting slowly reveals itself through human research into the rise of deep-sea monsters, creating a mysterious and tense atmosphere.

The Protection of The Lord of Ocean

The romantic core of the novel revolves around the bond between Lansi and The Lord of Ocean. An ancient deity rising from the abyss, he cherishes Lansi as his most precious pearl. To get closer to his beloved, he even takes the form of a black-tailed mermaid named Winsor under the alias Wen Yu to keep him company, offering that signature sense of warmth and possessiveness.

Worthy Highlights

• The psychological portrayal of Lansi is incredibly detailed and grounded as he grapples with the trauma of his physical transformation.
• The deep-sea world-building perfectly blends wild fantasy elements with a unique post-apocalyptic theme.
• A deep Boy's Love storyline featuring a committed couple, absolute protection, and devoted love.

Things to Note Before Diving In

• The pacing is relatively slow early on because of the heavy focus on Lansi's detailed process of learning to swim and adjusting to his new form.
• There is a lack of direct human dialogue in the opening stages, which might feel monotonous for readers who prefer fast-paced interactions.
