Starting Out as a mortal
Have you ever wondered what a realistic cultivation journey would actually look like? The story of young Li Yan in Five Immortal Sects is a deeply authentic and profound answer to that question.
No overpowered cheat codes right off the bat—our protagonist starts as an ordinary mortal in a remote village at the foot of a mountain. He has to fight step-by-step to survive in the face of adversity, relying purely on his hard work and sheer determination.
A World Full of Deception
What sets this novel apart is how it builds a dangerous, treacherous cultivation world. Li Yan doesn't just focus on the cultivation of his spiritual power; he also has to learn how to read people and navigate human nature to stay alive.
His deep desire to find a soulmate to share the lonely path of immortality serves as the guiding thread throughout the entire novel. His patience and caution will definitely make you think twice about the true value of trust.
Brotherhood and Romance
Aside from our main lead, the supporting cast is beautifully written, bringing a lot of warmth to the story. His third brother, Li Wei, and his senior brother, Li Wuyi, are always there to provide a solid support for him.
On the romantic front, even though it goes down the harem route with three wives, the introduction of Hong Linying brings plenty of wholesome and relatable moments. These relationships aren't shallow at all; they are bound by heartfelt sincerity and deep mutual understanding.
A Solid Progression System
Blending xianxia and xuanhuan elements, the power system is incredibly well-structured and logical. You get to witness a clear, step-by-step journey of progression through each specific stage.
From his very first steps in Qi Condensation, he has to work his way up to Foundation Establishment and eventually reach Golden Core. Every single realm requires steady accumulation and effort—there are no ridiculous shortcuts or cheap plot armor here.
