A Life-and-Death Journey in the apocalypse

The story opens in a grim apocalypse where humanity faces a brutal zombie catastrophe. After a bitter previous life, the protagonist Xu Yang experiences a rebirth right back to day one. What follows is a relentless struggle for survival by someone who has already walked the line between life and death.

This isn't just a story about fighting bloodthirsty monsters; it's a careful process of gathering resources and building a secure foothold. Pacing remains steady, diving into the detailed preparations made by the main character. Her memories from her past life serve as an invaluable survival weapon, allowing her to stay one step ahead.

Heroines in Adversity

The characters are distinct, featuring two starkly contrasting yet deeply connected figures. The female protagonist, Xu Yang, is cold, distrustful, and ruthless—traits honed from her past as a conscious zombie. Her defining edge lies in her unique summoning abilities and absolute pragmatic logic in every situation.

By her side is Lu Huixue, a gentle-looking girl who conceals a fierce determination. Their girls' love romance unfolds slowly, offering warm moments of calm amidst the ruin. Lu Huixue's loyalty and compassion gradually melt Xu Yang's icy exterior.

Key Highlights

• Presents Xu Yang as an independent, decisive and strong protagonist throughout the story.

Minor Drawbacks

• The romance moves at a very slow pace, which might test some readers' patience.

Reader's Perspective

Anyone looking for a survival-focused apocalypse novel with a rational, non-idealistic protagonist will thoroughly enjoy this read. The brutal world-building combined with Xu Yang's decisive actions makes for a compelling pull. Her pragmatic mindset serves as the backbone of the entire narrative.

On the flip side, readers expecting an intense, fast-paced romance might feel a bit let down. This relationship requires patience to appreciate the subtle psychological shifts between the characters. Yet, that deliberate pace is precisely what makes their connection feel so grounded.

Final Thoughts

At a manageable 112 chapters plus 4 extra stories, the novel delivers a complete and satisfying journey of rebuilding a life. It never drags unnecessarily, ending on a gratifying note. It's a solid pick whenever you want a refreshing change of pace.
