An Ironic Twist of Fate

Imagine kicking the bucket in your past life only to be handed a brand new gig as an Evil God in another world. Sounds totally epic and badass on paper, right? Well, the joke's on you when you drop right into the middle of a Demon Realm that is actively hurtling toward total extinction.

Before he could even enjoy his fancy divine title, history geek Hirano Bonta got slapped hard by reality: his loyal army was staring down a total disaster. Their entire fighting force had been reduced to a pathetic, scattered band of two hundred survivors, running for their lives while enemies hunted them down like dogs.

Being backed into such a terrifying corner would make anyone want to curl up and cry. Yet, that exact hopeless mess is precisely what kicks off a captivating and thrilling underdog adventure.

An Accidental Duo

Here is the real kicker: despite holding such a high-and-mighty status, Hirano Bonta is stuck with the limited power of a total rookie. He can not just snap his fingers and wipe out thousands of enemies with a flick of his wrist.

To make up for it, he brings a massive obsession and a deep well of history knowledge straight from his past life. Teaming up this rookie god with Drake, the ambitious yet deposed 108th Demon Lord, forms a seriously dynamic duo.

Even with enemies breathing down their necks from every direction, strategist Drake refuses to give up on his dream of unifying the kingdom once again. The synergy between Hirano Bonta's otherworldly intellect and Drake's sheer grit sparks a tiny flame of hope in the dark.

Clawing Out of the Abyss

The story moves at a steady pace as the pair scrambles to turn the tables with practically zero resources. Following a ragged, beaten-down army as they claw their way out of the dirt gives the story a totally addictive flavor.

This is not your average story where the main character starts off ridiculously overpowered and steamrolls everyone in sight. Every single move these two make requires careful calculation just to keep their tiny two-hundred-man force breathing.

Later on, as Drake (also known as Dracula) edges closer to claiming the title of Great Demon Lord, you really start to appreciate the payoff. It is a sweet victory earned entirely through clever planning and stubborn determination.

What Shines Bright

• The trope of a weak Evil God teaming up with a defeated commander feels super refreshing, completely dodging the cliché overpowered protagonist trap.
• The banter and chemistry between Hirano Bonta and Drake feel totally natural, packed with tactical brilliance rooted in military history.
• The writing is tight and snappy, delivering just the right amount of humor without losing the razor-sharp tension of their situation.
• The portrayal of the 108th Demon Lord is packed with backbone, showing a guy who keeps a cool head no matter how crazy the storm gets.

A Few Bumps on the Road

• The tiny starting scale might leave readers craving massive blockbuster battles right out of the gate feeling a bit let down.
• Our divine protagonist's powers scale up pretty slowly, so do not expect any flashy, screen-clearing magic anytime soon.
• Having such a tiny squad at the start means the early skirmishes lack that huge, explosive impact later arcs deliver.

Community Verdict

• Novel Updates: 4.1 / 5.0 (85 votes, checked on 10/05/2026) - Readers love how the author leans into clever tactical moves and the rock-solid bond between the characters.

Final Verdict for Readers

If you are totally sick of protagonists who get reincarnated and instantly conquer the world, this 6-volume series is a must-read. It strikes a fantastic balance between tactical strategy, pure entertainment, and the stubborn spirit of overcoming impossible odds.

Summary: This is a delightfully gripping underdog story about a rookie Evil God and a fallen Demon Lord trying to rebuild their empire from absolute zero.
