A Fated Reunion After Half a Millennium

Have you ever wondered what would happen if the most powerful exorcist from the past suddenly woke up in our smog-filled modern world? The story kicks off with Mi Wan, an illustrious Great Demon Hunter from five hundred years ago who was ambushed by enemies and had her soul sealed in a long slumber.

Now, she has undergone a sudden reincarnation into the body of a young girl from the Mi family, a socialite with a rather troubled past marked by self-harm. The contrast between the soul of a god of war who slaughters demons and a fragile body that once struggled with drug abuse creates an opening that will definitely pique your curiosity.

How will someone accustomed to ancient swords and sorcery handle skyscrapers and the lifestyle of today's youth? Mi Wan's adaptation isn't filled with sorrow; instead, it brings a fresh, powerful energy—and a bit of that "sassy elder" swagger.

A Witty Protagonist and Her Quirky pet shop

Mi Wan doesn't follow the typical trope of the gentle female lead; she's written with an incredibly witty personality and a pragmatically adorable streak. Rather than doing justice for free, she decides to open a high-end pet shop to serve as her base of operations and business.

But make no mistake—this isn't your average place for cats and dogs. It's a specialized clinic for treating and exorcising various poison demons hiding in the city. She doesn't hesitate to use her strength to "beat down" and even "extort" misbehaving demons, turning them into a steady stream of income.

Her over-the-top dominance and decisive problem-solving lead to plenty of laugh-out-loud moments as dark forces cower before a petite girl. You'll see a totally different side to the ghost-hunting profession, where expert skills go hand-in-hand with sharp business savvy.

An Eco-Friendly Demon King and Floral Emotions

If you're expecting a cold and ruthless dark lord, the current Demon King in this story will leave you floored. He is a passionate advocate for peaceful coexistence between humanity and demons—a truly refreshing take on the character type.

Instead of plotting world domination, this Demon King has a burning passion for buying land to build parks and protect the environment. Most unique of all is his physical reaction: whenever he feels happy or experiences strong emotions, he literally "blooms" with flowers.

The contrast between his powerful title and this soft, nature-loving personality makes for an incredibly charming and warm male lead. He’s not just a potential love interest but a fascinating companion on the journey to maintain order in the modern world.

A Strange Soul Link Between Two Extremes

One of the most interesting plot twists is the unstable state of Mi Wan's spirit energy right after her reincarnation. She frequently falls into deep comas without warning, which causes no small amount of trouble in her daily life.

Whenever her body is at rest, her soul unintentionally drifts to the Demon King's side, leading to fated encounters in a spiritual space. This intersection doesn't just help them understand each other better; it gradually unveils secrets regarding the demons king's power.

This invisible red thread ties a hunter of demons to the ruler of demons, creating a relationship that is both hilarious and romantic. Is fate playing a joke on them, or is this a grand design to heal conflicts from a thousand years ago?

Highlights for the Readers

• A strong, independent female lead with a slightly "unorthodox" way of doing things—no damsel-in-distress vibes here.
• A male lead who breaks every dark-lord stereotype, bringing warmth and plenty of romantic comedy moments.
• A modern urban setting seamlessly blended with xuanhuan elements through the pet shop concept.
• A steady pace that isn't too rushed but stays engaging with exorcism cases woven into daily life.
• The psychological shift of the Mi family members as they face a completely transformed Mi Wan.

A Few Minor Drawbacks

While the story generally has a bright tone, the original body's past involving mental health issues and addiction can make the atmosphere feel a bit heavy in the early stages. This might be slightly jarring for readers looking for pure, lighthearted escapism.

Additionally, because the focus is on comedy and daily life, the power system and battles sometimes lack peak dramatic tension. The female lead's spirit energy occasionally disappears a bit too conveniently to force an encounter, which can feel a little contrived.

However, if you view this as a relaxing piece of fiction, these minor flaws are easy to overlook. The character interactions are the true soul that keeps you hooked until the final chapters.

• Goodreads: 3.48/5.0 (23 ratings, checked on 09/29/2026). Several reviews mention it's a solid, gentle read that's perfect for a change of pace.

Final Verdict

She is a Great Demon Hunter is a fantastic choice for anyone searching for a story that charms with its blend of the supernatural and comedy. With a manageable length, it offers genuine relaxation without giving you a headache from overly complex conspiracies.

You'll get to witness a world where even demons learn to fear a witty girl, and a Demon King spends his time caring for greenery. This really is a breath of fresh air in the current urban xuanhuan scene, especially if you're tired of those old-fashioned tropes of bitter revenge.

In short: A delightful feel-good story with a cast full of personality, where the line between hunter and prey becomes hilariously and warmly blurred.
