The Journey to Reclaim Glory

Have you ever wondered what it feels like to fall from the absolute peak to the deepest abyss? That is exactly how it starts for Zhou Yuan, the crown prince of the Great Zhou Dynasty who was born with the Sacred Dragon luck/destiny, only to have it brutally stolen from him at birth.

The cruelty is agonizingly clear as the Great Wu Dynasty not only stripped away his power but also left behind the toxic Dragon's Resentment to torture him for years. Watching your homeland weaken and face complete destruction, would you have enough perseverance to rise from absolute zero and take back what is rightfully yours?

The story really starts to explode when Zhou Yuan, with the guidance of master Cang Yuan, finds a way to reopen his Eight Meridians. This isn't just a battle for himself, but also a heavy responsibility to his father Zhou Qing and mother Qin Yu.

Extraordinary Companions

Zhou Yuan is no pampered, smooth-sailing genius; he is the living definition of relentless effort to overcome adversity. Step by step, he restores his family's honor with an iron will and a very unique weapon—the Heavenly Yuan Pen.

By his side is always Yao Yao, a mysterious and powerful girl who is both his closest companion and his fiancée. Her presence not only brings him strength but also serves as a massive source of motivation to help him overcome the most gruelling trials.

Additionally, the appearance of Su Youwei, his childhood friend who always provides warm emotional support, makes his journey feel a lot less lonely. These relationships are deeply portrayed, creating a foundation of tight-knit bond amidst the brutal wars.

A Multi-layered cultivation System

The xuanhuan world in this work is built with a highly clear and logical progression path. Everything starts with the Eight Great Meridians Awakening Realm to strengthen the physical body, before moving on to the Qi Nourishing Realm and Heaven Gate Realm.

At each level, readers get to explore fascinating concepts like creating a Yuan Qi Pillar or absorbing Alpha Yuan Qi to form a Yuan Qi Star. The meticulous detail in establishing these power levels makes our main character's journey of leapfrogging realms much more convincing.

In particular, the Divine Dwelling Realm phase with the 9 colored levels of the Divine Dwelling, or the formation of the Sun in the Heavenly Sun Realm, really ramps up the excitement. By the time he reaches the One Lotus Saint Realm, you will truly feel the burst of absolute power.

Noteworthy Pluses

• The protagonist has a consistent development in both psychology and strength, emphasizing personal effort over sheer luck.
• The power system is well-designed with many stages from low to high, such as the Nascent Origin Realm or Law Domain Realm, keeping readers highly intrigued.
• The battles are described on a grand, heroic scale, deeply imbued with an epic feel.
• The seamless integration of family affection, love, and responsibility to one's nation brings out a wide range of emotional spectrum.

Minuses to Keep in Mind

• With a massive length of 1503 chapters, some plotlines in the middle stages show signs of being dragged out or repeating old tropes.
• The story's pacing occasionally slows down to overexplain various types of Yuan Qi or the structure of a Law Domain Seed.
• For readers who prefer conciseness, having to memorize too many technical jargon about cultivation might be a small hurdle.

Community Ratings

• Novel Updates: 3.2/5.0 (161 ratings), a number that accurately reflects the nature of a long-running series with mixed reviews at the time of writing.

A Reader's Perspective

If you're new to the cultivation genre, you'll find this work incredibly easy to get hooked on, thanks to its engaging storytelling and vivid imagery. On the other hand, seasoned readers who are already familiar with the author's style might notice some similarities in how the plot structuring is handled compared to his previous works.

Still, no matter how you look at it, the journey from a crippled crown prince to reaching the God Realm remains a highly rewarding experience. Are you ready to join Zhou Yuan in opening his eight meridians and conquering new heights?

The Verdict

This work is a grand epic of perseverance and the burning desire for justice in a world full of schemes and conspiracies. It's definitely a must-read for fans who love the thrill of leveling up and pushing past limits.

In short: A quintessential xuanhuan novel with a detailed cultivation system, revolving around the journey of revenge and self-assertion of a crown prince who lost his destiny.
