A Symphony of Two Realities
Replacing the Evil Way by Mao Trà Hải Li is an extraordinary work where the boundaries between reality and illusion blur. Spanning 99 chapters and 6 extra chapters, the story draws readers into a mesmerizing labyrinth of time and space.
Everything begins in a strange apartment that acts as a portal connecting two parallel universes. Here, the timelines of two unfamiliar men suddenly overlap, completely turning their lives upside down.
This collision not only brings spatial troubles but also thrusts them into perilous situations. They must face their own deaths on the other side of reality, creating a beginning that is dramatic and haunting.
Contrasting Reflections of the Soul
The protagonist He Wei is crafted with a captivating psychological complexity. In this world he is an ordinary office worker, but in the other he is a resolute police officer.
His intelligence and calmness are the keys to decoding the mysteries surrounding him. Despite his own flaws, it is He Wei's absolute steadfastness that makes this character feel so genuine.
Meanwhile, Cheng Zesheng brings a warm breeze with his humorous personality and confident demeanor. He is both a decisive police captain and a talented pianist in another reality.
The connection between them goes beyond mere investigative cooperation into a deep soulful resonance. They find missing pieces in each other, forging a relationship that is both profound and heartbreaking.
An Investigation Against Fate
The most unique aspect of the story is that the characters must investigate their own murders. He Wei searches for answers regarding Cheng Zesheng's death and vice versa, creating a breath-taking detective whirlpool.
This journey forces them to confront the dark corners of society as well as secrets within their own lives. Clues intertwining between the two worlds make every step fragile and perilous.
The combination of science fiction and detective elements is handled quite solidly by the author. Readers will feel the tension as the characters strive to change their fate in a gradually shattering reality.
The Allure of Logic and Emotion
The novel focuses not only on mind-bending deductions but also leaves ample space for subtle emotional ripples. Supporting characters like Cheng Zhenqing and Lian Jingyuan all contribute to enriching the emotional landscape.
The brotherhood between Cheng Zesheng and Cheng Zhenqing is depicted very touchingly. It shows that family bonds remain the sturdiest anchor no matter which parallel universe they are in.
The presence of Lian Jingyuan with his unrequited love for He Wei brings a quiet, melancholic note. This helps highlight the fateful bond between the two main characters within the vortex of time.
