Drama on the eSports Stage

After a bitter breakup with her ex—who just happened to be a professional gamer—Tong Yao swore she’d never touch another man in the eSports industry. But fate clearly had other plans, dragging her right into the ZGDX team and making her the very first female professional gamer in China’s LPL league.

In this cutthroat arena, she doesn't just have to handle public pressure from those doubting her skills; she also has to deal with the legendary Captain Lu Sicheng. The story kicks off a journey that’s equal parts high-stakes competition and top-tier comedy gold.

The Gaming Mulan and the Savage Captain

Known as Smiling in-game, our lead Tong Yao is often called the Mulan of the gaming world. She's tough, a bit hot-headed, and possesses an unshakeable spirit that helps her smash through every gender stereotype in the book.

Her match in every sense is Lu Sicheng, aka Chessman or the God of Ad. He’s gorgeous and insanely talented, but he’s also known for his notoriously sharp tongue. He acts like he’s made of ice, but underneath that cold exterior, he’s incredibly protective of her.

The Comedy Troupe and the Support Crew

The real charm of this story lies in the supporting cast who act as the national comedy squad. Characters like Little Fatty, Old K, Old Cat, and Lu Yue turn the ZGDX team house into a non-stop riot of laughter.

With manager Xiao Rui and bestie Jinyang in the mix, there’s a perfect balance between everyday life and the heat of competition. Even Tong Yao's mom, who started out strictly forbidding her career, pulls a spectacular 180—eventually begging her daughter for the Captain's phone number.

Why You'll Love It

• The romance is naturally sweet, with explosive chemistry fueled by the savage banter between the two leads.
• It features a truly independent female lead who proves her worth through skill, rather than just being a decorative sidekick.
• Side characters like Little Fatty and Old K have distinct personalities that create a very entertaining atmosphere.
• The story offers a realistic look at the public scrutiny and prejudice female gamers face in the industry.

A Few Minor Nitpicks

• The heavy use of game ranking system terms might make the first few chapters feel a bit jargon-heavy for non-gamers.
• Lu Sicheng's initial personality is quite arrogant and blunt, which might rub some readers the wrong way before his softer side shows up.
• The eSports romance trope doesn't offer too many wild twists if you're looking for a complex thriller or high-stakes mind games.

The Final Verdict

Clocking in at a neat 191 chapters, this is the perfect pick for anyone looking for lighthearted entertainment that’s still totally binge-worthy. Watching Smiling grow alongside her evolving relationship with the Captain is pure joy.

In short: This is a hilarious romance that serves as a powerful anthem for female empowerment in gaming. It's a must-read for anyone needing a weekend mood booster.
