An Ancient Mythical Beast's Unexpected Turnaround

The story opens with a fairly familiar transmigration premise, but it feels remarkably fresh thanks to an unconventional protagonist. The female lead, Jiang Tao, is a gluttonous ancient Taotie who suddenly finds herself occupying the body of a minor cannon fodder character in a novel.

In the original plot, this character was destined to be sabotaged by the female lead, dragged through scandalous rumors, and die in deep depression. However, Jiang Tao's mind is completely consumed not by vengeful schemes or a thirst for fame, but by a ten-thousand-year-old, insatiable hunger.

The Charm of Instinct and cuisine

Instead of getting dragged into petty power struggles, Jiang Tao channels all her energy into her passion for cuisine. Blessed with supernatural strength and an extraordinary digestive system, she can happily munch on non-food items, like a table made of chocolate.

Her utter sincerity and innocent nature help her steadily conquer the entertainment industry in the most unexpected way. Along for the ride are her younger brother, who happens to be a phoenix, and a wealthy, disabled music producer who supports her wholeheartedly.

An Unlikely Bond of Opposites

The emotional anchor of the novel lies in the relationship between Jiang Tao and the male lead, Shen Zhiyan. As a prestigious movie star suffering from severe anorexia, her presence becomes a healing, positive force in his life.

He is gradually drawn to her sheer joy of eating and her pure love for the world of cuisine. A poignant twist behind their connection is Shen Zhiyan's immortal past life, revealing that he created this entire world just to bring her happiness.

Key Strengths

• A unique premise blending the mythical Taotie with an entertainment industry setting.
• A light, gentle pace that offers a relaxing escape without any heavy psychological drama.
• A well-developed male lead in Shen Zhiyan, whose backstory is deeply tied to the female lead's past.
• Delightful chemistry among the supporting cast, particularly the phoenix brother, sparking plenty of natural comedy.

Notable Drawbacks

• With so much focus on eating, the plot can feel repetitive in the latter half.
• Conflicts and antagonists are resolved rather quickly, leaving the story lacking in high-stakes drama.
• The inner workings of showbiz are barely explored, serving mostly as a background setting for the characters.

Reader Reception

• WebNovelFinder (via Novel Updates): 4.278/5 stars (4,278 ratings, checked on 10/03/2026), reflecting strong international appeal for its lighthearted humor.
• Jinjiang: 1,165,264,000 novel points (checked on 10/03/2026), showing significant popularity and reach in the Chinese market.

A Great Choice for Pure Entertainment

Spanning 149 chapters, this Romance novel with fantasy elements is a cozy choice for anyone looking for a fun read. The author, Bạc Hà Miêu, succeeds in crafting a warm, uplifting atmosphere.

While it might not satisfy readers looking for complex power plays, the story serves its purpose well. The blend of fantasy powers and modern-day life leaves a wonderfully pleasant aftertaste.

In short: A light, humorous read perfect for destressing, driven by a charming lead who wins everyone over simply through her love for food.
