A Solitary Journey Through the Human Realm

This work is a breath of fresh air for fans of the xianxia and danmei genres. Our protagonist, Mo Li, is a fish sprite who has cultivated a human form and set out on a quest to find others of his kind scattered across the world.

As luck would have it, he is quite literally one of a kind—no other immortal race or sprite seems to exist. This unique solitude turns his travels into a hopeless search, yet it’s one filled with charm and wonder.

To keep his true nature under wraps, Mo Li takes on the persona of a legendary physician gifted with extraordinary medical skills. He wanders the land healing the sick, using his talents to quietly blend into human society.

The Headache of Human Greed

Despite his calm demeanor and desire for a quiet life, Mo Li constantly finds himself dragged into the unfair troubles of the mortal world. His innate kindness and helpful nature won't let him sit idly by while the innocent are exploited by the wicked.

Schemes born of greed and power-hungry mortals constantly surround this physician. He is often forced to intervene to settle disputes, leading to many unexpectedly hilarious and awkward situations.

The title of the work, "Aggrieved Fish Sprite," perfectly captures his sense of helplessness and indignation toward the absurd behavior of humans. He is constantly torn between needing to intervene and feeling utterly annoyed by the depths of human greed.

A Blend of Medicine and Fate

The story thrives on the contrast between a non-human being and the calculating world of men. The world-building choice to make the protagonist the sole immortal entity makes the narrative stand out from the crowd.

On the romantic front, the arrival of Su Wen brings pivotal turning points to Mo Li’s hectic life. Their relationship evolves naturally, grounding the story amidst all the chaos.

The physician's composure, paired with Su Wen's companionship, helps the duo navigate various traps. Their romantic bond grows stronger and deeper through every trial they face together.

A Departure from Traditional Cultivation

Unlike typical xianxia stories that focus on cultivation leveling or fighting over resources, this novel takes a completely different path. Without sects or immortal rivals to worry about, the atmosphere is refreshingly unique.

Instead of grand life-or-death battles, the plot centers on outmaneuvering human greed through the eyes of an outsider. This keeps the narrative feeling fresh and distinctive.

What Makes It Worth a Read

• A unique character setup featuring a lone non-human protagonist in a mundane world.
• A clever plot that mixes extraordinary medical skill with comedic mortal disputes.
• Mo Li's personality is well-crafted—calm and helpful, yet witty with his "Aggrieved Fish" attitude.
• The relationship between Mo Li and Su Wen develops smoothly and is deeply intertwined with the plot.
• At 359 chapters, it's a manageable length with a stable and easygoing pace.

A Few Things to Consider

• The trope of accidentally getting dragged into other people's problems repeats quite often.
• There's a lack of epic magical duels or sect wars because no other immortal race exists.
• The story leans toward light entertainment, so it occasionally lacks high-stakes tension.
