The Charm of Misaligned Perspectives

Starting from an ironic twist of fate, the story takes readers on a hilarious journey as the protagonist attempts to escape his destiny. After turning into a mermaid, Yi Nuo stumbles upon a strange prophetic book.

The book reveals a grim future where he turns villainous, hurts Major General Yue Zhan, and ends up imprisoned. Terrified, he resolves to draw a clear line between himself and the general to keep himself safe.

However, fate plays a trick on him when Yue Zhan suddenly gains the ability to read his mind. The little prince's cautious yet utterly naive thoughts are completely exposed to the major general.

This dynamic creates an entertaining contrast where one puts on a dramatic performance while the other quietly watches and enjoys the show. It offers an undeniable sense of amusement right from the opening chapters.

Sci-Fi Interstellar Setting and the mermaid Lore

The interstellar backdrop of the Empire is clean and concise, highlighting the contrast between high technology and magical biology. The core power system revolves around mental power, which can trigger violent instability in users.

A fascinating highlight is the lore surrounding the legendary mermaid race and their unique traits. Beyond a singing voice that calms mental trauma, they possess a distinct reproductive capability.

These biological features naturally drive the progression of the lead couple's relationship. Blending sci-fi elements with soft romance helps the novel maintain a comfortable narrative balance.

How the author weaves these unique traits into the daily lives of the characters feels grounded and charming. Small details like tail care or reactions to water are delicately portrayed.

Charming Character Contrasts

Yi Nuo quickly wins over readers with his sweet, naive nature hidden under a desperate effort to act dangerous. He is constantly worrying about concealing his tail while making one hilarious misinterpretation after another regarding the general.

Meanwhile, Major General Yue Zhan is portrayed as a steadfast military officer who softens remarkably around his beloved. His family background, marked by a lack of affection, adds a satisfying layer of psychological depth.

Supporting characters like the Emperor, alongside loyal guards Luo Yuanjie and captain Lu Ya, add lively color to the narrative while highlighting the protagonist's irresistible charm.

Their relationship goes beyond simple attraction, offering gentle healing for past wounds. Yi Nuo's genuine warmth slowly melts the lonely heart of the Major General.
