A Strange Little App

Have you ever imagined changing someone's hobbies with just a few taps on your phone? The story begins when a student named Keisuke Sato accidentally gets his hands on a mysterious tool called the Hobby Modification App.

Instead of grand power-ups or epic battles, the story stays grounded in a very relatable modern school life setting. The tool functions like a puzzle game, but the results interfere directly with real-world perception.

The contrast between an ordinary life and the power of hypnosis creates a strange, magnetic pull. Do you think a tiny app is really enough to completely turn someone's mind upside down?

A Refreshingly Calm Lead

Unlike the typical protagonists who are easily blinded by power, Keisuke Sato comes across as incredibly level-headed. He has an indifferent, cold exterior, but deep down, he is exceptionally sharp.

His proactive nature keeps the plot from falling into a passive rut. He isn't oblivious to the changes happening around him; instead, he remains a very keen observer.

He quickly notices the growing feelings from the girls by his side. Will this clarity help him stay in control of such a dangerous mind control ability?

Five Shades of Emotion

The story doesn't just focus on one person but expands to five beautiful girls, each with her own distinct personality. They are pulled into a whirlwind of hobby changes, gradually revealing their hidden sides.

Each girl represents a unique archetype, from the loyal childhood friend to a famous celebrity. Watching the transition from childhood affection to intense passion makes for quite a diverse experience.

Notably, the presence of yandere elements creates some seriously dramatic twists. Could you handle an obsessive love that clings to you every second of the day?

The Charm of Minimalism

• The concept of blending a phone puzzle game with hypnosis is very unique.
• The fast pace and short length of only 44 chapters make it an easy binge-read.
• The protagonist is intelligent and rational, never becoming a slave to the tool.
• It successfully explores the complex psychological states of the female cast under the influence of technology.
• It builds a mysterious atmosphere while maintaining an engaging, everyday vibe.

A Few Things to Consider

• The mind control aspect might be an ethical dealbreaker for some readers.
• The scope is strictly limited to a school life environment, so don't expect deep world-building.
• Side characters aren't given much screen time to add further depth to the narrative.
• Some of the app's puzzle segments are a bit too simple and don't really challenge the intellect.

What Readers Are Saying

• Novel Updates: 4.3 / 5.0 (126 reviews, as of Oct 01, 2026)

Most readers on the platform appreciate how concise and dramatic the work is. Many reviews expressed excitement over Keisuke Sato’s characterization, as he doesn't follow the usual tropes. However, some readers did voice concerns over the plot points involving deep psychological manipulation.

Perfect for the Curious

With its manageable length, this is a fantastic choice for those looking to switch things up with some sci-fi mixed with psychological school life drama. The clever blend of thrills and romance will definitely keep you hooked until the very last page.

If you're looking for a short but punchy story, this is one you shouldn't miss. Would you ever dare to download an app like that onto your own phone?

Bottom line: Hobby Modification App is a brief but captivating work on the theme of mind control. It’s best for: anyone who loves a mix of thrilling psychological elements and complex school life romance.
