The Charm of Rationality in a Fantastical World

Every person, after enduring profound loss, often seeks a belief to lean on and find the strength to move forward. This work unfolds a story that is both humorous and poignant, following a protagonist who leaves the big city in search of tranquility, only to inadvertently stumble into a series of unexpected supernatural phenomena.

With a gentle and witty writing style, the author places a steadfast scientific mindset in the midst of a world teeming with mystical elements. The contrast between sober rationality and bizarre supernatural events creates a unique allure for this 117-chapter series.

Shen Chang'an and the Longing for a Peaceful Life

The character Shen Chang'an is beautifully portrayed with fair skin, black hair, rimless glasses, and a charming smile. Behind that optimism lies a painful past, as his parents heroically sacrificed themselves in the line of duty. Given a new name and raised by the authorities, he moves to the small Wuming City with the simple desire to live a quiet life.

Despite possessing brilliant intelligence and coming from a major city, he maintains a remarkably pure heart, sometimes even hilariously naive in matters of romance. The most striking aspect of his character is his rock-solid belief in empirical knowledge. He constantly applies the laws of physics to decode every strange occurrence around him.

A slow-burn Romance and Heartwarming Collegiality

Amidst the chaos of the spiritual world, the story carves out gentle pauses for the main character's romantic development. Meeting Dao Nian—a figure of extraordinary power and mysterious origins—brings him a quiet, steady protection. Their relationship develops in a truly slow-burn manner, gradually seeping into the reader's heart through sincere care.

Furthermore, the piece that completes the warmth of the work is the workplace environment at the Wuming City Social Welfare Bureau. The group of colleagues, including Director Du Zhonghai, Deputy Head Gao Shujuan, and staff members Ding Yang, Chen Panpan, and Xu Ze, brings an incredibly endearing atmosphere filled with laughter.

Narrative Pace and Emotional Perspective

The author does not focus on building tense battles or grand power realms. Instead, the work chooses to delve deep into character psychology, portraying the contrast between the fearsomeness of ghosts and the warmth of human kindness.

The narrative maintains a leisurely pace, focusing on gentle everyday life interactions. From an emotional perspective, the way the protagonist maintains his optimism in every spiritual situation provides both laughter and a sense of healing for the reader.
