Power Systems and Unique Mechanics

In this world, readers will encounter a power system that is quite distinct from traditional xuanhuan tropes. The protagonist, Zhai Chen, possesses the ability to enhance his physical capabilities through inhaling oxygen, a fascinating biological twist on supernatural strength.

Whenever his blood oxygen levels spike, his strength reaches incredible heights, transforming a refined-looking kindergarten teacher into a true ace bodyguard. However, the author balances this by saddling him with night blindness in low-light conditions, preventing him from being an untouchable powerhouse.

This creates high-stakes combat scenarios where the protagonist must strategically use his environment rather than relying on brute force alone. While the system isn't overly complex, it’s robust enough to create logical and satisfying turning points during direct confrontations.

The detective Narrative and Social Issues

The plot goes beyond mere displays of power, diving deep into convoluted detective cases with significant social undertones. The chain of events kicks off when Zhai Chen accidentally ends up in the car of CEO Gao Yusheng, dragging him into a complex murder investigation.

The author skillfully weaves in elements of evil cult organizations and hidden conspiracies from the protagonists' pasts. The pacing remains brisk, with the investigation unfolding layer by layer through the assistance of Fang Chu Yang.

The cases often reflect pressing issues within the modern urban landscape, creating an atmosphere that feels grounded yet fantastical. The synergy between a professional bodyguard's observation skills and a businessman’s sharp intuition keeps the narrative relentlessly engaging.

Chemistry Between the Leads

The dynamic between Zhai Chen and Gao Yusheng is a major highlight, evolving from a chance misunderstanding to the discovery of a childhood connection. Zhai Chen's witty and eccentric personality provides a perfect comedic foil to Gao Yusheng's more serious demeanor.

Despite being a wealthy and brilliant archetype, Gao Yusheng is remarkably self-reliant and shows absolute respect for his partner's abilities. Their romance develops naturally, intricately tied to the process of uncovering mysteries surrounding their families and careers.

Additionally, the presence of the young Zhai Meng Meng offers tender, heartwarming moments amidst the intense investigations. The bond within this small family unit adds significant emotional depth that balances the action.
