When a Side Character Rewrites His Own Fate

The story takes a startling turn when one day, Shen Jin wakes up and realizes he is nothing more than cannon fodder in a novel. Known as the quiet and beautiful school sweetheart, he discovers a grim future of confinement awaits him. Driven by pure panic, he decides to take a bold gamble to save himself from his predestined end.

To fend off the creeps lurking in the shadows, he devises a risky fake relationship scheme. The target for his plan is none other than his cold, aloof desk-mate—the very person who has always treated him with nothing but disdain.

A Contract Between Two Distant Souls

The arrangement between Shen Jin and his desk-mate creates situations that are as forced as they are sweet. Initially, they are bound only by a contract of convenience to deal with external pressures. However, constant physical proximity and the time spent together slowly begin to dissolve the walls of their initial charade.

Ironically, just as his heart begins to flutter, Shen Jin is horrified to discover that his desk-mate is actually the main gong of the novel. This shocking truth leaves him desperate to put an immediate end to their fake relationship.

The Uncontrollable Instinct of Possession

The character Qian Kun is written with a magnetic and complex allure. Though he starts off cold and dismissive, his resolve completely crumbles in the presence of Shen Jin. His innate Alpha nature and possessive instincts gradually surface as he finds himself yearning to protect and fully claim his desk-mate.

Their bond deepens further as the biological mechanics of this fictional world intervene. Shen Jin’s transition from a Beta, who was once largely unaffected by pheromones, to being marking-ed creates a fated link that can never be undone.

Notable Highlights

A Few Minor Drawbacks
