The story kicks off with a high-stakes premise, following a top-tier modern-day female assassin. After meeting an untimely end during a dangerous mission, she undergoes transmigration into an ancient Chinese setting rife with power struggles. Here, fate forces her hand, thrusting her into the role of a reluctant female consort to a royal princess.

The unique blend of solemn court politics and gritty wuxia underworld conflicts crafts a vast, captivating lore. Readers will instantly be hooked by the forced yet thoroughly entertaining marriage between the two female leads. The author masterfully lays the groundwork for a deeply fated bond that will later leave an unforgettable mark on their souls.

A World of Power Struggles

The world-building seamlessly weaves tense court politics with high-stakes martial arts battles. The struggle for the throne is fought not just with sharp wits in the shadows, but also with sheer martial arts prowess on the field. This ancient Chinese setting feels both majestic and incredibly perilous, with danger lurking around every corner.

Secret factions and sudden assassination attempts keep the tension dialed up to eleven. Instead of relying on over-the-top fantasy elements, the author anchors the story in grounded, strategic clashes. This serves as the perfect stage for the characters to showcase their brilliant minds and extraordinary skills.

The Main Characters

The female lead, Yuan Sheng, is a former elite modern-day assassin known for her cold, ruthless, and decisive nature. She boasts a lethal toolkit of top-tier assassination skills, ranging from expert disguise, hidden weapons, and poisons, to perfect vocal mimicry. Even after crossing over to the ancient world, she retains her sharp intellect, razor-sharp logic, and formidable combat capabilities.

Her perfect counterpart is the Grand Princess Minghui, Gu Yuemin, a woman of supreme noble status and unmatched cunning. The dynamic between a freedom-craving assassin and a politically ambitious princess makes for incredibly compelling interactions. Their complex dynamic—built on mutual suspicion and irresistible attraction—is the absolute heart and soul of the novel.
