Piecing Together the Cases in Nancheng

The story establishes a modern yet bleak urban atmosphere centered around the Nancheng police department. Here, a homicide is never just a cold body; it is a complex puzzle requiring absolute gravity and respect from those tasked to solve it.

Readers are drawn into a journey that exposes the darkest corners of human nature through meticulously detailed case files. The fusion of classic criminal investigation techniques and complex psychological analysis gives this work a distinct, compelling pull.

Under the author's pen, the city is not just a sprawl of magnificent high-rises, but also a network of dark alleys where crime festers. The deliberate, measured pacing pulls the reader deep into each crime scene, making the tense atmosphere that hangs over every chapter palpable.

The Convergence of Opposites

Captain Song Wen is portrayed as a formidable, outspoken, and sometimes arrogant detective who possesses an exceptionally sharp eye. His skill in criminal profiling serves as the master key that unlocks critical dead ends in seemingly hopeless cases.

In stark contrast stands Lu Siyu, a quiet rookie whose innocent exterior masks a cold, exceptionally sharp mind. The pairing of a man of decisive action with a brain capable of keen observation yields a remarkably synchronized partnership.

The author masterfully shapes their relationship, guiding them from initial suspicion and distance to a profound, unspoken resonance. Song Wen's transition from being annoyed by his wealthy partner to deeply cherishing Lu Siyu's innermost secrets feels entirely organic.

Procedural Precision and Psychological Depth

The author demonstrates impressive competence in crafting a highly logical and realistic investigative process where nothing is left to mere coincidence. Evidence collection, autopsies, and suspect interrogations are all depicted with remarkable authenticity.

The element of criminal psychology does not merely profile the perpetrators; it also dissects the inner worlds of the law enforcers themselves. The struggle between the light of justice and the darkness of personal vengeance remains a constant thread woven through the cases.

The Danmei romance between the leads is subtly woven into the narrative, never distracting from the high-stakes investigation. The quiet gestures of care and unspoken understanding between Song Wen and Lu Siyu offer a welcome warmth amidst the coldness of these grisly homicides.

Key Strengths

• A tight logical framework for the cases, where clues are naturally seeded and thoroughly resolved.

• Distinct character depth, particularly Lu Siyu's mysterious and complex past, which serves as a powerful driver for the plot.

• A seamless blend of sharp, professional criminal investigation and the subtle romance of the Danmei genre.

• Consistent pacing across all 192 chapters, maintaining suspense and reader curiosity from start to finish.

Drawbacks

• The visceral violence and realistic crime scene details might feel too heavy for sensitive readers.

• Some early investigative sequences may feel slightly slow for those who prefer fast-paced, action-oriented detective stories.

• The supporting cast within the police department lacks sufficient screen time to leave a truly distinct impression.

Reader's Perspective

Fans of classic detective fiction will find satisfaction in how the author systematically untangles each logical knot. Meanwhile, Danmei enthusiasts will be moved by the quiet, enduring bond forged between two deeply scarred souls.

A Worthy Investigation

Criminal Investigation Files strikes an excellent balance between the dry technicalities of criminal investigation and profound human emotion. This novel well deserves a prominent spot on the reading list of anyone who appreciates high-stakes mind games paired with genuine affection.

In short, the work is a case dossier that masterfully balances the cold, sharp reason of justice with the quiet, profound affection of its leads.
